At the age of 16, motivated by vocation, Francesco Forgione became a novice at the Convent of the Cappuccini of Morcone. The Capuchin Friar in 1910 assumed that of Pius and was ordained a priest in the Cathedral of Benevento. During this time, they sat on the hands of the stigmata as he was praying at the elm of Piana Romana - Pietrelcina. It was proclaimed Holy on June 6, 2002 by Pope John Paul II.
